Besides studying and travelling, sightseeing in the host city is also one of the most important things you should do when you’re on exchange. Due to the spacious environment here in Denmark, there’re amazing parks with beautiful scenery. Furthermore, there’s also a fabulous sunset when you get different colours on the sky. This peaceful and relaxing view does lighten you up after a long day. So, when you’re on exchange, never forget to appreciate and exploring your host city/country too.

I am sure everyone has heard of how popular clubbing and partying are in a typical European life. Thus beer had also played a very important role in their life, since this is the most people drink for them when they chill out. Carlsberg has a brewery in Denmark and due to Carlsberg’s popularity, a museum is set up to allow visitors to have a better understanding of the brewing process. So, when we’re in a foreign country, we should not only get use to the local culture but also have an understanding of their history too.

Touring round the host city is one of the most important things we have to do when we are on exchange. The main square (Stroget) here in Denmark in located near Nørreport (metro/train) station. This is similar to Causeway Bay in HK, where we get shopping malls and boutiques. However, historical architects, such as church can also be found there. Though not everyone is religious, religion does play quite an important role in some people’s life. So, we should pay more respect to people with different cultural and religious believes.

Denmark is very cold in winter, with loads of snow, thus sunshine in February is very rare; now I really appreciate the amount of sunshine and warmth we get in Hong Kong even in winter; though seeing snow is a very unforgettable experience. Denmark is a very environmentally friendly country, citizens can bike round the city rather than drive as there’re bicycle tracks, pity this couldn’t be done in Hong Kong due to the lack of space. Nevertheless, people in Hong Kong should learn to be more environmentally conscious too.

Welcome dinner for exchange students with their buddies in the school hall. We were given a number, which was our seat number, thus we get to meet new friends from all round the world. These are the people I met at my table. After that, we turned the school hall into a “club” where we had music and drinks. Time to get used to the European culture: meeting new people through drinking and dancing.
