Exchange Diary (CityU Students)

22nd Feb 2010
Tonight was a big night for me because I had to cook a Chinese dish to treat our Spanish friends. Altogether we students from Hong Kong made 10 different Chinese dishes (not very genuine though), and the dishes were so delicious that we finished them all. We are looking forward to trying the Spanish dishes in the coming week.




16th Mar 2010
It was the birthday of our Spanish friend, Juan. Tonight he organized a party which requested every participant to wear a special costume. So I bought a set of uniform of a construction worker in the town. It was extremely fun tonight because I met the batman, Spainish Torero as well as priests in the same house!

17th Mar 2010
Today was the St. Patrick’s Day, which is a public holiday on the island of Ireland, including Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We headed south to Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland. There was parade in which performers dressed up peculiarly and celebrations were everywhere. We had a good time visiting Dublin and experiencing the passion of the Irishs.






22nd Apr 2010
This is my 2nd day in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. I did not plan to come to this place originally. Because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland, my trip was extended for a week longer. The eruption totally messed up my travel plan and I have to postpone my presentation. However, I met many friends during the trip and we shared our worries. This trip should be one of my most exciting memories throughout my exchange study.






6th Feb 2010
This activity was organized by a local charity called INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS. On this Ceildh night we enjoyed traditional Irish music and learnt Irish dances, which involved 100 dancers joining hands running around the hall. Local families were also invited so we together had a great night of cultural exchange.
