Xu Shen @ University of Stirling, UK (from CityU) 6 - 10 October 2008
Monday, 6 October 2008
Today was the beginning of my 4th week in University of Stirling. Frankly speaking, life in Stirling is easy. I have only 3 modules, each module only have 3 one-hour lectures and a one-hour seminar per week.
I’ve got 3 lectures on Monday, and I missed one of them today…it was difficult to get up in the early morning…so I didn’t attend the Marketing Research class and got up in the mid-morning.
I went out to a bar tonight with several friends and we had a wonderful time. Experiencing the “bar culture” in Scotland is something I don’t want to miss. I tried many of the famous local drinks all these days, like whisky (which Scotland is famous for), and Guinness (famous for its dark beer and the world’s record).

I’ve got a day-off on Tuesday, and I went to Edinburgh with my friends. Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and is quite near to Stirling. Together with Glasgow, the largest city of Scotland, the three cities seem like three vertexes of a triangle on the map.
It took us roughly an hour to get there by train and this was my second time visiting the city. We visited the National Museum of Scotland and Royal Museum of Scotland in the morning. I found the exhibits on display very interesting, as they demonstrated a unique culture and an interesting stretch history.
After lunch, we went to climb a hill which I couldn’t remember its name now… When we finally standing on the top of the mountain, I could see the entire city of Edinburgh – an old city (many castles and venerable buildings) with modern atmosphere (fashion people and feelings of art), I love this city…
I love Stirling too~~ it’s a place of landscape. Also, it is the place of the story in the movie Brave Heart. Tomorrow I will go to the Stirling Castle~~It will be another wonderful day~

I went to the Stirling Castle this afternoon together with several new friends. We set off after attending lectures in the morning and having lunch.
Stirling Castle used to be the palace of Scotland, and the story in the movie Brave Heart was actually happened here. I haven’t watched the film~~so I have no idea about what it talks about~~
I’ve got headache today – perhaps owing to the rain in the morning. Therefore I was depressed this afternoon and didn’t pay much attention to the scenery and the castle…anyway, it’s a place that worth visiting .p.s. the ice cream I bought outside the castle taste good.

Today was a peaceful day…nothing special…attending lectures and seminar, discussing IE (International and Export Marketing) group project with my group mates (the only project I have for this semester), surfing on the Internet, and feeling a little bit tired because of the travels in the two successive days.
Today is a rainy day, as usual. But I love this kind of rain – quite, light, no need for an umbrella. Go out, walking in the rain and on the wet grass – nothing special but a pleasing feeling.

Finally, this week comes to an end, and so does this task~~I like it, as I recorded my memory and shared my life with all of you by displaying several snapshots in my exchange.
Today I attended a seminar – it is the same thing known as “tutorial” in CityU – and made a new friend from Brunei. I was confused when she told me her nationality…I didn’t know which this country was. But fortunately, she could speak Chinese, she told me the Chinese version of the country name and I figured out which the country was.
Do you know where Brunei is? Just Google it!
