Yiu Ying Tung, Aalto University, Finland

 Monday

Being introduced by some Taiwan friends, I go to a café at night. It is fun that theme in every Monday is “language exchange”. There are people who came from different countries. We all share our culture and teach others our mother language. I feel interest on German culture so I choose the German table. We exchange our own idea and appreciate with each other. It is a very fun place.

Tuesday

This is the 24 hours orientation day organized by School Union. It always organize exchange buddies’ activity for us to meet new friends. We wear the special“Cloth” and walk on the street. After the tour, we have a party and sing Finnish song. It’s unforgettable!

Wednesday

Today I walk around a park near school and capture this awesome moment. I see few children are picking cans and bottle. After a short conversation, I understand why they try hard to pick cans.
Finn gives incentive to recycle cans and bottles. Every supermarket places a recycling machine for exchange cans and money. In weekend, children went to park and street to collect cans. The sense of environmental protection makes Finland clean and lovely

Thursday

This is my first Halloween in European. We gather with all exchange students and wear unusual clothing. Most of us are creative and exciting. The guy wearing red cloth and role like King call James. I am so appreciate with him wearing that little cloth under low temperature. But his look is really striking.

Friday

It is a wonderful trip I had in Lapland (which located in Northern Finland). I join a survival program which included ice fishing, snow shoe GPS-orienteering, Making quinzees and fire. These are the things that I never do in Hong Kong, even in my life. At night, I am very lucky that see northern light outside our cottage. It should be a memorable trip in my life.
