This photo was taken for my dorm in day 1 after I settled down, which is one of the famous landscapes in Kaohsiung, known as Siziwan Bay. Someone said” the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is the Taiwan people.” I never believed this rumor until I experienced by myself. Where I had gotten off in the wrong bus station and confusing about where was I, I decided to call my friend from Taiwan. After few times I tried, the one from another side of the phone was not my friend, and he was getting mad as I kept calling his number. My friend gave his number to me via Facebook and I decided to find a place with Wi-Fi where I could connect to Facebook to contact my friend. However, not like Hong Kong, the population and building density in Taiwan is much lower than Hong Kong, and there is a question, where could I enjoy a free Wi-Fi? I stood aside of the crossroads, looked for McDonald or Starbucks and finally, I asked a young boy heading somewhere with his friends. He answered me very friendly but he had no idea where had free Wi-Fi Then, his next move surprised me. He took out his phone, went to the setting page, and shared his network to me. I felt uncomfortable as I thought it was disturbing him and wasting his time, but every time I look at him, he just smile very very kindly. And finally I successfully contacted my friend, arrived my dorm and enjoyed the excellent view from my room.

Today my friend bought me travel around Tainan with his moto. Moto is commonly used in Taiwan for daily purpose, like buying a breakfast nearby. This is quiet new to me as moto is not popular in our society and only used by delivery service generally. But I do enjoy riding moto in a community which allow us to explore it deeply and freely, distance isn’t matter anymore and we can go anywhere we want if we have a piece of time. The photo above was taken in Anping Castle. Anpnig Castle has almost 400 years history and was built by Dutch and used as stronghold when Taiwan was governed by Netherland. And today Taiwan government keeps the castle in repair and open it to public as a organic history museum, showing how complex the Taiwan history is.

It is a pottery workshop located in Yingge, Taoyuan, the city of ceramics. One of my friend who live in Yingge known I was going to Taipei and therefore he invited me to stay at his home for few days as his home is near Taipei that can help me save money. And therefore I have the chance to workshop and enjoy this pottery-DIY workshop in the city of ceramics. The workshop was only about 10~15 minute because we have to continuously add water to the pottery. However, the pottery couldn’t be shape solidly if too much water added, and that’s why the duration of the workshop remain short. We could shape whatever we want and the teacher will guide us. The cup of second photo was made by my own while the bowl behind was made by my friend. As you can see, we could customize it afterwards. What an interesting experience!

One of my courses taken in Taiwan is to form group with other classmates and participate in a Joint-U competition. The competition hold by National Policy Research Center of Taiwan required us to submit a proposal about how to develop a sustainable community for original inhabitants. To discover more about inhabitants’ community, we went to there several times, talked to inhabitants directly, and investigated the site by ourselves. After having 2 meetings every week, many times of brainstorming, few months of discussion, we finally complete a comprehensive proposal for the community, suggesting they can develop and remarket one of their unique crops. Fortunately, our proposal was rewarded 3rd prize in the competition.

Welcome to Kenting, a place with extraordinary sunshine, weather, and beaches! I had joined the diving club of my host university for the “Discover scuba diving” which was hold in Kenting! So we had the chance to visit Kenting along with this diving tour! What is more, the committee of diving club took his car and drove us travel Kenting! The above photo were both taken in Kenting National Park, and the first one was facing Pacific Ocean, excellent right? As my camera isn’t water-proof, and I couldn’t take a photo for diving, pity!
