Ray Kan Chun Hin, Tsinghua University, China

24/02/2014

It’s the day we first arrived at school, so my friends and I wandering around Tsinghua University with maps on our hands, just for the purpose of familiarizing the new environment and starting to prepare for our new life. Although the air condition and weather is not good enough, the campus area is really large and possessed with plenty of facilities which are very nice!

Just met our buddies in Tsinghua University, they are so nice and glad to answer all our questions about the campus, the school life and on academic aspects. We had lunch together and then they showed us around the school historical area of Tsinghua Xuetang with the most iconic school entrance in the old time. They explained with us the school history and let us know well about the school. Buddies are the most important factors to our fast adaptation outside our comfort zone.

This day was the orientation day for the students who came for the exchange in the school of economics and management. We met our professors and all the other exchange students from all over the world. We met many new friends and are amazed by those foreign exchange students by their good Mandarin level. We also had a tour in the school of Economics and Management. They even have their own library for themselves!

We went to the bookstore inside the school campus to buy our books for the coming courses. We found that the books being sold there were really cheap. And the variety is quite large too! Also they sold second hand books there, and it’s great to see the increasing awareness of environmental protection!!!

That day was the day the societies of different kinds of extra-curricular activities in Tsinghua University recruited for new members. Friends of mine and I went to the booth just outside our hall of residence to see if we can find some clubs we are interested in. Finally, we joined the skiing society together and were really looking forward to their ski activities every weekend!!
